The Saturday Super Swank Road Ride "Dogged Winter"

The 10:30 am roll out of SBC was especially prompt today. Our group left the parking lot at like 10 of 11! UHG. Our posse included the hard-core regulars that don't mind the weather. Andy B, Jeff (the Hammer) Herrick and (luck dog) Kyle along with myself headed out on our shorter than usual 2 hr jaunt.

I guess I called Kyle lucky dog because about half way thru our ride this psycho killer dog was going for Kyle's front wheel and the only reason he didn't take his wheel out is because the dog lost traction in the gravel used ironically to provide motorist more traction in foul weather. I wonder how man dog stories I could come up with.

The cold weather slowed us all like lizards crawling thru the wind swept roads of little Belgium. Omloop Het Volk was today and the conditions may have been similar beside the sweet smell of Euro Diesel team cars and the licorice smells of spectators smoking cigarettes.

It was really fun to ride this slow as it allowed the conversations brew into a colorful potpourri of humor and roadside commentary and tales about Russia. U just had to be there….

COLD MOUNTAIN!

Snowing all day here.

We got about 4 inches in town, it looks like Alaska yesterday on my ride in the mountains!

I got in 1:50 in, on the mountain bike over at Second Mountain. The snow didn’t stick to the roads much so they are at least clear. I was amped to do a long ride but I locked my keys in the Euro van in the middle of a snowstorm. It wasn't a normal stupidity I was parked next to a graveyard and they were having a funeral! All dressed for the funeral two people drive past and I hurried to get out of their way. So I closed the door. OH NO!!! Luckily the guy who delivers the vaults had his cell phone. It sucked BAD. I tried to unlock the door for close to an hour and then I gave up and took a seat in the warm truck that delivers burial vaults.

Thankfully Erin rescued me and brought the spare keys.
Slush puddles for feet I decied to go riding anyway. It was a great ride, I am glad I went. It was not the five hours I had planed but life rarely goes by script. The mountains where veiled in wafting powder, truly awesome

I miss Clemson sunshine!
